So I am going to be running the Two Oceans Half Marathon… What began as a dream is slowly, slowly becoming a reality and it is just 45 days away.
As part of the Two #Oceans4 Team from the Sport Science Institute… I was gifted with a Given Gain Campaign… to raise funds for the I Am Water Trust. If you know me, then you know I love a great cause, love the ocean and environmental education… And yes, I am so excited because I am running for the I Am Water Trust… read all about it and find out how you can help us send a class of kids on an Ocean Experience of a lifetime.
I Am Water Trust
The I Am Water Ocean Conservation is an organisation based in Cape Town, that takes kids that live within a 5km radius of Cape Town’s beaches and yet they don’t have an opportunity to go to the beach. They gives then a two day workshop and a complete ocean experience, where they can learn to love the ocean and so become a future generation of ocean ambassadors.
What better place to learn about the magic of the ocean and all that it has to offer, than at the beach. The children learn about life in the ocean and what they can do to protect it. The children are taught about ocean conservation and the environment and they get to explore. They have fabulous coaches who take the kids snorkelling and what an adventure that can be in one of Cape Town’s Hope Spots.
They are taught what they need to know…

And they are thrilled to be there…
And they have buckets of fun…

Running The Dream
I went snorkelling last year for the very first time, it was life changing. Our kids live at the seaside, and their world is packed with a beach lifestyle. Lucky indeed. I thought it would be great if we could give just one class from the greater Cape Town area a chance to have an ocean experience workshop with the I Am Water Ocean Conservation.
So while I am training to run my dream race, The Two Oceans Half Marathon in a couple of weeks time, I can be raising funds to send a class full of kids on an Ocean Experience. I know this is experience can change lives, I know that it will open up their world to dream big dreams… one of these kids could be the next Sylvia Earle, or Lewis Pugh… Imagine, what a difference a workshop would make for these kids.
