Last week our “Sunday Snippet: The Great Dinosaur Mystery – A Review.” was sewing the seeds for this weeks GiveAway. The GiveAway is called “Creation & Evolution: Why it matters what you believe” by Colin Garner.
This book is from the same series as our previous GiveAway, In God’s Image. Large A4 format packed with great photographs and snippet boxes. I know I couldn’t wait to open it up!!! It is split into two sections: In the first section the author compares the world views of Biblical Creation and Evolution and how the two views oppose each other. The second section looks at the implications of each of these viewpoints for our life choices that we make.
Most people talk about the creation – evolution debate but actually there is very little debate. Evolutionary thought is so part of our culture and so pervasive in all literature. How many times have you read “back when we were apes” or “millions of years ago when we were all fish in the sea” it can sound really ridiculous but somehow it has become ingrained in our culture and is part of the belief system of most folk.
I like this book, it is easy to understand. It looks at some of the key arguments that evolutionists have put forward to promote their theory and some of the pitfalls in their arguments. The book goes on to look at and answer some of the questions folk often ask of creationists. Furthermore the author presents the implications for a society that accepts either one of these theories as their view on the origin of the world. It was a really interesting read and I couldn’t keep my older boys away!

Another great recommendation! I remember writing a creation/evolution paper in a sociology class in college – boy did it make my liberal professor mad that I pointed out holes in the evolution argument…
