It’s that time of year when everyone is doing Christmassy things and I have a whole heap of hoods who need to be chilling out and swimming. I seriously need some quick baking. And these cookies are quick! Literally toss the ingredients together, spoon them onto the tray and bake them. This is what you are aiming for:
And here is my helpful helper.
Let’s Meet The Players:
And let me just say that I have noticed, when it comes to posting and when it is far too late to go back and re-photograph things, that I have left a crucial ingredient out of every “ingredient” photograph since Hood 7+1 was born. So just treat the photo as a little bit of a puzzle, a stretch of the brain, spot the difference, whatever… and here are the players, really:
- 2 cups of flour
- 3 teaspoons of baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon of mixed spice
- 1/2 a cup of butter
- 1 and a 1/2 cups of fruit cake mix
- 2 Tablespoons of glace cherries and we chose red and green ones for Christmas.
- 1/2 a cup of sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 2 Tablespoons of milk
Let’s Play The Game:
Step 1: In a large bowl place the flour, baking powder, salt and mixed spice.
Step 2: Chop the butter up and place it in the dry ingredients. Rub your mixture until you have breadcrumbs.
Step 3: Add in the fruit cake mix. Chop the cherries and add them as well.
At this stage the help gets REALLY helpful!!!
Step 4: Add in the sugar.
Step 5: Beat the egg and add it to the mixture. Add the milk in at the same time.
Step 6: Mix away. And then place spoonfuls of mixture onto the baking tray – one can roll them, but we like the rough, chunky look.
Step 7: Bake at 200 degrees Celcius (400 degrees Fahrenheit) until they start to brown, about 15 minutes.
And you are done!!!
Bon Apetito!!!
That looks really yummy and Christmassy! And just up my throw-it all-together alley. Thanks.
Hi O, I am so grateful for throw it together readers – you have no idea!!! These are really good and I would say you can gift them in a jar… but they don’t last that long!!! Hope you have a great weekend!!!
This is my first visit to your blog and after seeing all the sneakers and the title about rock buns I was expecting a workout post! =) It didn’t take long to realize this post was not about getting my … uh … rear into shape! The cookies look delish!
Hi there WW, Thanks for the laugh! Have a good day!!!
You are missin the mixed spice. These cookies look very nice. Something with a Christmas cake flavour without the trouble. Take care and God Bless…
