We live with a birdwatcher – they are a rare breed!!!
So we take him to Rondevlei bird sanctuary in the heart of the South Peninsula. In the middle of a busy and bustling area is this perfectly quiet and peaceful wetland and it is always packed with birds and fascinating things to see. There entrance fee, unlike almost every other Cape Site, is negligible… but prepare yourself – there is lots to see and do there.
There are great walks:
There are hides:
There are look out towers:
And evidence of hippopotamuses:
There are local reptiles and plants, and an informations center with snakes and things – totally no photographs of these!!!
And birds galore…
And more birds…
And just a few more…
All to tick off and read about in his Sasol Field Guides
Seriously, don’t overlook this great spot. Pop over to their website and have a quick explore to find what to see and do there, and to get directions.
Oh wow! Thanks for this. How many times must we have passed this place? Will have to go check it out soon. And are those entry fees on the site current… seems they forgot to update for a few decades?!
Hay O, Yup those prices are current!!! You had better a believe it!!! Seriously we could start a birding revival with information like this posted on the web!!! Hope you have a fun week!!!
