So after weeks of rain we woke on Friday to glorious sunshine… and we set out to make the most of it!!!
It was a bit of an early start for my gang, who had had a sleepless night in excited anticipation…
I had a sleepless night because I suddenly remembered at the last minute they were meant to be a team and needed some sort of identification…
Whipped up some badges and race numbers and “the purple pengiuns” were good to go…
Meet our fabulous Ranger, we love her… one of the most friendly, helpful people on earth!!!
Armed with our envelope filled with tokens… and we were off…
Did I mention it has been raining…
Clue #1…
And a race around Silvermine Dam…
Identifying medicinal plants…
Getting our answers checked… very seriously…
And stopping to notice the daisies…
On our way to Slangkop lighthouse and whale identification…
The next challenge took us to the ostrich farm…
And the measuring of gigantic eggs…
The clues just kept on coming…
And into Cape Point…
And a wild weather challenge…
New clues…
And challenges…
And these beautiful creatures all over the park…
Endless green headed lizards…
Followed by a photo challenge…
Don’t you love our ghostly shadow…
And that’s Cape Point…
And we didn’t take the funicular…
We walked…
And we rested…
And we pointed…
And watched…
Love that beach…
And we made it…
Looking back up the Cape Peninsula, there is the open ocean on the left and False Bay on the right…
It wasn’t over until we had identified the ho-hum… not everyone was taken with this challenge!!!
Just one more challenge…
The North cross… Da Gama’s Cross…
And the last stop… Bordjiesdrif
We survived a challenging Amazing Race…
And a chilling in the sunshine – that isn’t that warm I might add!!!
But who can resist such an awesome pool…
And watching the surfers…
And an afternoon where we could pretend that Spring had arrived… before more rain settled in for the weekend!!!
Races…
Treasures…
Swimming…
And yes it is cold!!!
Waves…
And water play…
Pure happiness…
I dare say we are all totally ready for summer…
And just this week there is Free entry into SANParks for South African National Parks Week… for South African citizens with valid I.D. books.
So cool to see the pictures!!!

Now I see why you needed the purple penguins! What a great adventure and way to discover. It looks like a fabulous setting too. Those views are amazing. Your ghostly shadow reminds me of the swamp monster in Room on the Broom.
